Star Candidates April 2017

It’s that time again where we recognise our Stars of the Month! We are very excited to announce our fantastic candidates for April throughout the states of Queensland, New South Wales, Canberra and Victoria. It is so great to see our Expect A Star Early Childhood Educators succeeding in the sector!

Jeremy Hegge - NSW

Jeremy Hegge is our NSW Star Candidate for April! Jeremy has worked with Expect A Star since October of 2014 and since then become a regular at various different centres. He is enthusiastic and dedicated and has a clear passion for working with children, as is evident from the consistently positive feedback he receives from many centres who say he is fantastic at interacting with the children. Jeremy is a dedicated and versatile candidate who is always willing to try out new centres and travel near and far for nearly any shift asked of him. We are very proud to have you representing us at Expect A Star, Jeremy, keep up the great work!

My role as Casual Employee at Expect A Star is to:

My role as a casual at Expect A Star is to make sure the day goes as smoothly as possible while an all-important permanent staff member is away. To make sure above adequate supervision of children is maintained while trying to develop as positive a relationship with the children and staff that I can so that they feel relaxed and comfortable with my presence and working towards finding the right balance between being fun and being disciplinary so that the day goes well for everybody!

The best thing about my role is:

The best thing about my role is working with wonderful, fun, creative, incredibly diverse and inspiring children, getting to interact with them and not only try to teach them positive life & educational lessons but learn from them as well! As well as always aiming to improve myself as a teacher and person through my experiences as a casual.

How long have you been working with Expect A Star? What do you like most about working for Expect A Star?

I have been working with Expect A Star for 2 and a half years! The thing I like the most is the flexibility of being able to work when I wish, to have time off when I need it, getting to explore Sydney and its varied cultures and individuals through travel and the lovely people in the office which help me find work!


Rabi Munkayilar - ACT

Our ACT Star Candidate for April is Rabi! Rabi has recently joined the Expect A Star team in February of this year, but has quickly become a preferred and regular candidate at many of our ACT centres. She is said to have a very calming and nurturing effect on children and is a great listener and hard worker at every centre she visits – she receives consistently positive feedback and always follows directions. Rabi is dedicated, polite, and has been a fantastic asset to our Casual Team here at EAS. We are proud and appreciative of all of your hard work for us since joining, Rabi, keep it up!

My role as Casual Employee at Expect A Star is to:

My role as casual employer at Expect a Star is to assist in the day to day running of the centre I am sent to, with minimal distraction as possible. As a casual, I like to be able to slip into the room with ease and work collaboratively with the team.

The best thing about my role is:

The best thing about my role is having the opportunity to visit different centres. I particularly enjoy re-visiting centres I have worked before, as you have formed a bond with the staff, children and their families.

How long have you been working with Expect A Star? What do you like most about working for Expect A Star?

I joined Expect A Star in late February. In the short time, I have absolutely loved representing Expect A Star and being part of the team. The staff are always lovely to speak to, and always considerate of my availability and time when offering me shifts.  


Ann Wood - VIC

Ann Wood first joined our casual team here at Expect A Star in March of 2011 and has been one of our most consistently strong candidates throughout her time here at EAS! Ann is extremely dedicated her work here at EAS, often willing to drive up to two hours to help us out with any shift! The team here know we can always count on Ann to help us out, and are always confident in her ability to shine anywhere she visits. Ann is valued and preferred at many centres, with an amazing ability to engage children across any age group. Centres have been highly impressed with her ability to run group time and calm an entire room of children. Ann, we are very lucky to have you as one of our long-time casual candidates and greatly appreciate all of your hard work! 

Q&A

My role as Casual Employee at Expect A Star is to:

Provide the best quality as a kindergarten teacher/diploma. I believe I do this with a high work ethic. I just love working with children with all kinds of abilities. 

The best thing about my role is:

Being available to the Centre I go to assist the staff that could be a difficult time. I find it is possible to learn new ideas as a result of working with different cultures and in different situations. This can be quite challenging. 

How long have you been working with Expect A Star? What do you like most about working for Expect A Star?

I have been working with Expect a Star for six years, overall even when I had a more permanent part time position. 
I find the office staff cheerful and helpful and while they are seeking to fill a position they are respectful when I cannot help them. It has been an absolute pleasure and I look forward to many years to come.


Brendan Fletcher - QLD

Our Star Candidate in QLD this month is Brendan Fletcher! Brendan has recently joined our casual team in February of this year and has already become a regular at one of our highly valued centres in QLD! Brendan receives consistently amazing feedback from all centres he visits and is said to have a fantastic nature and interactions with children. He is a dedicated, polite, and strong candidate who we are proud to have as a representative of the Expect A Star Casual team. Congratulations Brendan, and thank you for all of your hard work, keep it up!

My role as Casual Employee at Expect A Star is to:

Help make the room/centre run as smoothly as possible, assist in supervising/interacting with the children and help keep the program running on track. So any jobs that I'm asked to do.

The best thing about my role is:

Meeting all the staff, children and families at the various centres I have been to. The experience gained by working with different people and at different centres.

How long have you been working with Expect A Star? What do you like most about working for Expect A Star?

I started at Expect A Star in February this year. Getting to experience so many amazing centres around Brisbane that I couldnt as a fulltime Early Childhood Education and the knowledge gained by doing so.
